need help on hardtopvs coupe question please read!1!!!!!!
Hey whats up guys i recently got my 99 frc an i really love it. It handles great and it so much fun to drive.Well anyway my friend drove it and fell in love with it he loves the handling but likes the way that the coupes back looks better and he likes that u can take the roof of to. Well i know that u can get the z51 option on a coupe and a 6 speed but does it handle almost as well as the hartops or is there a big diffrence i dont know what to tell him because im not sure if ithandlespretty much the same he might pick up a used 99 coupe thankz....

While the hardtop is theoretically stiffer than the coupe, in practice there is no difference in handling if the coupe is equipped with Z51. If your buddy likes the coupe better, he'll be happy with the handling.

Coupes are nice...everyone has their own opinion ( rightfully so), but I love my FRC. I have a close friend that has a 97 Black coupe, so if I get tired of the FRC (not!) or vert, I can switch off with him & drive his coupe, we both have the best of all 3! :D :D :D :D :D :chevy :chevy

Thankz man just out of curiosity how is the z51 handling compared to the z06 is the z06 alot better and if so is ther anything we z51 guys can do to get in on par with the z06s?

The Z06 will handle the best, although a Z-51 or base car will come close if you put Bilstein Sports and Hotchkis sway bars on.
The FRC frame should be somewhat stiffer than the coupe. I know that with my coupe, I can tell a mild difference in frame rigidity with the top on vs. off. When the top is off, you get a little bit of a "shutter" over bad bumps. With the top on, I don't have this effect. I imagine the FRC would be slightly better than my coupe with the top on.
The Z06 comes with a lot more rubber on it, too (and no run-craps).
Whatever happens, you really can't go wrong with any of the C5's.

You mean to put the bilstein bars on the stock z51 replace those bars and Hotchkis sway bars to then it will handle just like a z06

And one more thing will a z51 coupe vette handle better than a new m3??? And i am really interested in learning everything there is to know about the z51 vettes is ther any good sites on these cars i cant see to find any???
