Default Issue with pop up head light ???

Gentlemen,

I am once again in need of your expertise...

I have an 02 with pop ups.

Last nite, my driver side headlight does not close all the way down.

When i turn off the lights, both go all the way down but the driver side pops back up 1.5 inches.

Blown motor???

forgot to mention that 2 days ago the coolant bottle blew up and spilled some coolant. I changed the bottle and all is good now.

According to Michells. The module is located somewhere underneath the coolant bottle. Would it be possible that the module got some coolant and when to module heaven??

If you do a search you might see the posts regarding your specific symptoms. Although it is possible that you got coolant on the control module located on the firewall behind the passenger headlight I doubt it would get inside and/or cause a problem since water/moisture is geting in there when driving in inclement weather anyway.

I think the fix for your issue is to place a shim/washer onto one of the bolts installed and this fixes the issue where headlights poop back up.

I cannot remember the exact process at this point but am sure it is documented on the forum as many have had this issue. It seems simple to correct.

I will do a search in addition to your efforts and maybe between the two of us we can find the thread with the fix in it.

Try this before doing the shim fix....

Check the white plastic stopper on the cotrol arm and the two behind the headlight. Mine was doing the same thing. The stoppers get cracked and worn out causing the light to pop back up. I checked mine on Sunday and sure enough...the stopper under the lamp, on the control arm was cracked and worn out. I just flipped it over for a temporary fix, until I get to the dealership and buy a new one. The problem went away instantly.

It can be as easy as that, or the gear is starting to wear out on you. Try the cheap easy fix first. Then move on to the gears if that doesnt work.

Good luck!

thanks guys, turns out it was the motor assembly. I called the dealer and it turns out that the company that makes them for Delphi I guess went under!

Lucky I found them at a local wrecker and got one for each side just in case. I have an 02and the housing was plastic. The new ones are out of an 00 and are metal.

Thank you for all your input guys.
