My buddy took my center console out to hook up a remote start and now when I put it into "D" the car doesn't move.... I have to put into 3rd, then it will take off. After it is in 3rd, them I can put it into "D" at it seems to be ok.
After I showed this to my buddy, the only thing he could think may have happened was with the shifter. He was having problems putting the clip back into the shifter **** and he was pressing really hard toward the back of it to get the clip in.
Any ideas of what could have happend? How to fix?
Has anyone seen or heard of this before?
I really need some help with this one, as its driving me crazy

Sight unseen..nope. I know your friend did not remove the assembly, but I have not idea how abusive he was in what he did. There are warnings all over the service manual about the shift control cable rod being "very inflexible".
I assume you guys have a service manual, so you can read up on what I'm referring to.

lol... thanks fresh... i was looking for more tech based responses!
Any of the senior guys on here with any ideas, thoughts, sugestions, or what to do next?
While I do not consider myself a "senior guy", I'll offer this. You had no problems with selecting gears before your friend disassembled the console, and had his way with the shifter. We have no idea what he did, how much force he put on the shifter, etc. That being said, the only course of action you have, is to take everything apart..inspect...and see what the problem is.
Dude-this is the INTERNET-diagnosing whatever your buddy might have done is virtually an impossibility. Get your rear in there and dig out the problem or at least get some PICS so someone might help. For all we know he left a bag of weed in there (or it being Wisconsin, it might be a BRAT).
