Bought 4 new tires and just got back from about a 1000 mile road trip. Since these tires aren't run flats, what kind of emergency kit is available (in addition to AAA and ROAD ASSISTANCE)?
I bought a small 12V (plug into cigarette lighter jack( Walmart) and carry a breaker bar with socket to remove the tire as well as the small 12V compressor and tire plug kit.
I found at Harbor Freight, they have an 12V electric screw jack which is nice. A wrench to get the wheel off if needed, plug kit and rechargeable air compressor available from H. Depot.
You could also purchase the C5Z06 tire inflator kit that was supplied as original equipment with the Z06, about $59 on fleaBay (97-04 Chevrolet Corvette Air Compressor Tire Inflator) right now. Has a black hard case that fits in the rear well. Anything beats being stranded...road hazard w/tire purchase helps too.
www.safetyseal.com for an awesome plug kit and a $10 Walmart air pump. Fits quite nicely in one of the side trunk pockets in a C5. I've used it once on the Vette and several times on other cars, trucks, and trailers.
