Default Brake squeaking

My left rear brake has started squeaking without the brake pedal depressed as I'm driving. It mostly occurs at slow speeds, but I have heard it recently at speed. It is weird, if I apply the brake slightly the noise stops. I have stock rotors, with Panther Plus pads and SS lines, all were replaced in Nov.
I have had my brakes squeal upon application but never this way before.
Thanks for any tips

The only noise I've ever heard is when there is brake dust on the rotors, but that would be under braking. Not sure on that one.

I suppose 'your pads are shot' is too simple of an answer, but your post isn't that detailed so I'll toss it out there anyway. Also, you might check the SS line on that side and make sure it's not rubbing the wheel or other moving parts. If this started when you installed the mentioned parts, one of them is the likely culprit.

Might be a sticking piston, keeps the pad lightly up against the rotor all the time?

It's most likely brake dust. Get an air hose and blow in and around the caliper/pad assembly. I'll bet that cures your problem.

Thanks Tom, I'll try that today. These new pads (Panther Plus by Carbotech) really produce a ton of dust, but they sure do a great job of braking.

Sometimes aggressive pads make a squeaking noise... Whatever is wrong I hope you figure it out and get it fixed.
