I am having a problem with the driver's side remote door lock/unlock on my 2001 coupe...the remote key fob always locks this door but every 3rd or 4th time it won't unlock it...the lock works fine with the key or when I use either "unlock button" on the inside of the doors...the passenger side door works fine all the time. I have researched some of the old threads on the locking mechanism dealing with problems with the relays or grounds, but most of those threads deal with a complete failure of the remote locking....any suggestions as to where I should start? Thanks for any suggestions.
Don't know the answer, but I have exactly the same problem. If I push the unlock button 3-4 times it will sometimes work, but usually by then I just unlock it with the key.
thanks for the comments..I have been doing the same thing with using the key in the door...I just hate to have things (like the fob) that should work but don't.
Help, left door ('94 vette) won't unlock, key turns, inside unlock actuates but still doesn't unlock door.
Wrong forum for a '94, but just the door apart and see what's going on in there. Probably a connection rod from the lock to the latch or similar is hanging in there or who knows. Sorry, I know nothing about the C-4's.
Even though it is intermittent, it is still most likely a faulty relay. The contacts get burned and they become intermittent. Even if I am wrong, your investing only a few bucks and less than an hour. Here it the write up I did. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...w-problem.html
Sorry for posing in C5 forum. I finally got the door unlocked. Apparently lock mechanism got in a bind. I will now be able to pull off the door panel and see what's the trouble. I have a used lock on the way. I ordered it to get a closer look at the mechanism, Now I may replace the old lock. Thanx for the help, Gar

No problem, we're here to help. Just here, we may not know anything about your car as in this case, I sure don't... but don't mind throwing in the possibilities if it helps you out.
Ok so the story goes as I have read post after post after post with no success. On my 01 Z06 I have a issue that affects both doors and both the remote, AND the door control switch with the locks.
On the driver side door I can ONLY UNLOCK the door with the remote or w/ the door lock button. I CANNOT lock it unless I do it manually. I can hear the engagement when I go to lock but does NOTHING. When I open the door the alarm goes off.
On the psgr side I can ONLY LOCK with the remote or door button. Cannot UNLOCK.
Also as per the owners manual, I cannot get the remote to sync. I am wondering if the lock system is out of sync?
I am wondering if the relays are bad on both doors. No codes. Nothing in the DIC. Windows work. No visible corrosion. There is connectivity electrically as I can hear the locks either engage or disengage but does not actually happen.
It has to be more electrical, than mechanical in regards to lubrication.
I just changed my relays for both doors this weekend. Pretty easy fix. My door locks were doing the same thing. Sometimes I had to hit unlock multiple times for it to work and my driver's side just wouldn't lock electronically. Remember both doors have 2 relays, one to lock and one to unlock. Just pick up 4 of the relays (about $6 each). The links above is very good and walks you right through it.
