Default replacing my radiator.....

Hi guys....

I plan on replacing my radiator in the next couple of days... Can anyone send me the complete directions so i dont skrew anything up


I realize its just a radiator but I'm assuming like everything mechanical there's a trick to doing it right...or quick little Do's and Don'ts....

Take a look at the heads and cam install page at ls1howto.com. Its not too bad of a job.

Jack the car up, you will need 8-10 inches of clearance under the radiator.

Drain the radiator, be careful the drain **** only needs to turn about 1/4 a turn and its easy to break it.
Remove the air bridge.
Take the plastic top off that holds the radiator in place.
Remove the radiator hoses, top and bottom. I like to take them all the way out.
disconnect the fans and the electrical harness from the fan shroud.
Remove the middle two brackets for the sway bar and let it swing down.
Remove the fan shroud by lifting it up and off of the 4 tabs on the radiator that hold it in place, then drop it down and out the bottom.
Disconnect the AC condenser from the front of the radiator the same way, but of course leave it hanging.
Pull the radiator out the top.

Radiator Replacement
Tools Required
J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

Removal Procedure




Remove the fan shroud. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement .
Reposition the throttle body heater outlet hose clamp from the radiator using J 38185 .
Remove the throttle body heater outlet hose from the radiator.



Reposition the radiator inlet hose clamp from the water pump using J 38185 .
Remove the radiator inlet hose from the water pump.



Reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp from the radiator using J 38185 .
Remove the surge tank inlet hose from the radiator.



Remove the connector position assurance lock.
Disconnect the mass air flow sensor electrical connector.



If equipped, remove the automatic transmission oil cooler lines from the radiator.




Important
It is not necessary to disconnect the air conditioning lines from the condenser.


Remove the condenser from the radiator and position it forward.
Remove the radiator from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure




Install the radiator.
Install the condenser into the four retaining tabs on the radiator.




Notice
Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.


If equipped, install the automatic transmission oil cooler lines to the radiator. Tighten
Tighten the cooler lines to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).





Connect the mass air flow sensor electrical connector.
Install the connector position assurance lock.



Install the surge tank inlet hose to the radiator.
Reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp to the radiator using J 38185 .



Install the radiator inlet hose to the water pump.
Reposition the radiator inlet hose clamp to the water pump using J 38185 .



Install the throttle body heater outlet hose to the radiator.
Reposition the throttle body heater outlet hose clamp to the radiator using J 38185 .
Install the fan shroud. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement .

Default Radiator stuck in my c5

Ok so i've taken all hoses off of the radiator in my y2k m6 and removed the air bridge, i laid the ac condenser foward and fans back towards the engine but my radiator will just barely wiggle. Am i missing any hidden bolts or connectors or clamps?? 2 hour project turned into two days... HEEELLLPPPP!!!!

Make sure the fans, and the condenser are completely off their tabs and the radiator is free. It sticks a little down by the drain ****, so you need to kind of pop it from the bottom. If you're on stands, lie on your back and thump the bottom of the radiator on both sides, and it'll pop right out of it's seat.

How the hell does the radiator go back in correctly? All I see is the rubber stop? Any help please guys i know this is an old thread !
