I lowered my '03 F55 on stock bolts a few years ago with no problems. Last year I went to 19/20 CCW T10 wheels and lowered even more with an aftermarket lowering kit. Try to keep at least 3/8" ride height differential front to rear. Also, you may want to invest in frame rail savers. The car will definitely ride stiffer, but should not have any issues.

Do a search on lowering and you will find that lowering in this or the C5 Z06 page. Lowering too much with stock rear shocks can cause the rear end to be hitting the bump stops. This is not only uncomfortable, it stupid and it can be dangerous since if you run out of travel when cornering it can result if nasty oversteer.

If you are just a waxer or cruiser you can get away with it, but if you enjoy a sports car for what it was designed for it can result in serious loss of control.

Lowering the car should not effect ride quality. If you have lowered so much that you feel a difference in ride quality you are absolutely hitting the bump stops. If you want it lower than about 3/4 of an inch lower than stock you need to get a different set of rear shocks.

The service manual states that front and rear ride height measurements only only have +/- .5" of allowable adjustment.

I know that is all the dealer would lower it too.

That being said I lowered mine 1/2" and it still rides fine with the same noticable feel difference between the two MSR settings. Thus eliminating about half of the 4X4 look.

The F55 system operates differently from a standard fluid style shock. The shock senses total displacement and rate of change. The system then calculates the current necessary to adjust the damping required in the system. By lowering the the F55, the system senses the displacement in the shock and the ride does change from stock.
