First, you need to ensure the fuel pump is even priming. You will hear it come on for two seconds when the key is turned to the RUN position. Having fuel squirt from the schrader valve does not mean you have the right pressure. You need to install a gauge at the rail.

You also never responded to 8vette7's question regarding the security light. Is it flashing or not?

Does your friend have one? Wait for him to help with the spark check first. If you don't have spark, game is off. A pressure gauge is inexpensive though, and great to have in your tool box. Also, make sure he has a Multimeter.

Excellent, and I assume no bleed down?

Ok Mark, per our conversation, here's what we know is good:

1) Ignition relay is closing with the key in the on position
2) 12 volts at PCM minifuse #16
3) 12 volts at the injectors
4) 12 volts at the ignition coils
5) 0.5 ohm ground at the ignition coils(indicates G107 is good)
6) Fuel pump runs - 60 psi at the rail with no bleed down

Below is the location of the crankshaft positon sensor. It is located aft of the starter. I'll look for a procedure, but checking for spark will point us in the that direction if there is none. If there is anyone you know with a scanner capable of reading RPM, it would be good to have, because the RPM reading on the scanner will be dead if the sensor(or wiring) is an issue. It's probably not a timing chain, since you only have 20K on the motor, but based on your description....backfire and shutdown, it's exactly what happened to me before(not on a vette).

Okay Lucky so here's what i've done thus far..

I have checked spark and getting good spark.. I then replaced the Crank shaft sensor and no luck... still no start... Now I do remember you asking if there was any bleed down from the fuel pressure.. at the time i was unsure.. but i will say that there is no bleed down when the unit is actually priming.. however once the prime stage is complete the pressure will bleed down... is this normal.. the only reason i'm asking is because I did read a thread saying that someone had good pressure (60PSI) at the rails and it ended up being the fuel pump... What are your Thoughts?

I will post the procedure for changing out the crank shaft sensor if no one has already... my case was a little different because I have Long Tube headers.... so I actually had to remove the header on the passenger side so I could access the starter which also needed to be removed.. once the header and starter are removed the crankshaft sensor is right there and easily accessible from underneath the vehicle.

How fast does the pressure bleed down?

That doesn't tell me anything bro. "how fast" means: how many psi loss per minute.

Feel free to give me a call.

Okay everyone.. I can not express my thanks enough.. with your help I was able to isolate why the car won't start.. It seems as though I broke the timing Chain at minimum.. I will be pulling the motor this weekend, will place on motor stand and start tearing down the block... If I find any other issues i will post and to what was found.. Once again thanks for your help...

Mark,
Per our conversation, considering this happened at high rpm, those heads have to come off to inspect the valves and pistons. When you finally get it torn down, pay particular attention to the security of the cam retainer plate. I can't help but wonder if it walked due to the bolts being left loose when you had the cam swapped.
