check out the C5 parts for sale; there is a brand new set of 3.73s (no doubt from a GP) for $1600 + shipping. This is the best deal will will ever find.

Or you can call West Coast Corvettes as they are having 3.73's made available soon also. At least their rears come with a one year warranty, not so on the Getrag, plus they are cheaper but rebuilt. However, if I get a warranty with a rebuilt 3.73 and pay less, that's my route ! :yesnod:

The rebuilt rears require an $800 cor charge, so you must return an old one to get the core charge back.

With the 3.73s you get a new setup and can keep or sell your 3.42s.

Figure out which one is cheaper $1300 and you lose your rear or $1600 minus the $500 you can get selling your 3.42s?

BTW I am waiting for one of the rebuilt rears to break while someone is at the track and have them try to collect on the 1 year warranty. I am not sure under what circumstances the rear will be warranted.

To me the warranty is a marketing tool with no teeth to provide a path of recourse for the owner.

Just my .02

Chuck

I too am curious about how this will play out, particularly w/ the 3.90 and 4.10 gears.

I agree, if i did anything, I would shove out the extra $$$ for the 3.90.

The $1600 price is something that you will not see as a normal occurance. The one set in question if not already sold is a good deal, but if you don't get it the next best single price is around $2300 ! If you want to have a spare rear the this is the best way to go. If you do sell it for $500 the subtract it fro the $2000 plus price and you still spend more. As far as the drag strip use goes, the ring & pinion and bearings are all that is warrantied, still more then the Getrag which is more money. If a shaft is to break that is another story, again just ask " Chris_NJ C5 " as he broke one on his 2 or 3 day old 3.73's and was told " no warranty ", so yes anything can happen, but if you race YOU BETTER EXPECT IT OR NOT RACE !!. I hope I do not have to request it, but I will be using my 4.10's very soon and we'll see what happens.

It's not THAT hard to put together a GP for these at that price. All you need is a multiple of dozen. :)

There have been at least three of these GPs that I can recall since last August. Mike did a great job of dealing with the FedEx problems but that didn't have much to do with the GP itself. I know I felt a little guilty when mine came right quick via UPS and other guys were still waiting. :bb My point was it's reasonable to anticipate being able to get that price again, even if it doesn't come along every day.

Ecklers has them now.
They also have 3.90 with hardened shafts for less than gertrag.
