Thanks Patches but that thread seems to tell me to take my car to the dealer which I try to avoid as 2 different ones found ways to scratch my car (once requiring a trip to the paint booth).
You see, my wife saw part of an interview with Kyle Petty and he said that the key to keeping your car running well is to change the oil and clean the fuel injectors every 3000 miles. - made it sound like it was kind of easy.

I definitely see your point. Luckily I have found a dealer here who treats my car with extreme care and respect.
3000 miles seems like an extremely short interval for cleaning injectors. Course, Kyle probably doesn't do his own car. :D Sounds like he may be talking about the gas tank injector cleaning additives which I've heard are a no-no for the C5.

The kit is a pressurized bottle of stuff and a hose. These are sold seperately so that you can keep the hose part and buy new stuff when you need it.
The system I have seen in Vette catalogs is by 3M. The process is similar to the canister and hose refill we used to do to auto air conditioning systems but you attach it to the fuel rail fitting. I am pretty sure you then idle the car until all the stuff has gone through the system. I had a mechanic tell me it took about 45 minutes.
Hope that helps.

Slogan has it right. you can get a gauge/dispense setup at most parts stores (napa) pretty cheap. you first disable your fuel pump by pulling the fuses. since there is no fuel return line, you dont have to pinch this off (as on most other cars). then hook the gauge manifold hose to the schraeder valve on the fuel rail. screw in the pressurized can of cleaner into the dispense housing, which has a needle tip that will pierce the can of cleaner and seal against it. then you slowly bring up pressure on the regulator below the gauge to ~45psi. start the car, recheck that delivery pressure is still >45psi. allow car to idle until contents expire and engine stalls. you will know the cleaner is doing its job by the sweet/bitter smell of the cleaner burning in the cylinders. it is easy. the gauge set will pay for itself after a couple times since most garages get ~$80 just to do this.
Re: Fuel injector cleaning. How to? (Gearhead Jim)
that is true. dont use them. most of the fuel additives on the shelf at the local parts stores has NAPTHA in it. this crap leaves a reddish-brown residue all over the inside of the cylinder, plugs, etc. Supposedly wont hurt injectors or O2 sensors, but, i dont trust it. get the proffesional setup.
How about the fuel additive from RedLine to prevent injector deposit buildup? Is that a bad way to go as well? Their literature is very convincing about how well it works, either with a lot of the stuff episodically or with a little of it in each tank of gas. Of course, they are selling the stuff........
Didn't C4C5tech say there was an injector cleaner that GM had for the C5 (and other cars too). I think he recommended. I know he posted about the decarb, but I thought there was an injector pour in thing too.

just look on the ingredients of the contents for Naptha. just stay away from anything with Naptha. just know that you'd be much happier with the results of the professional gauges to clean the injectors vs. pouring stuff into the tank.
Hi all,
Hey rjw383,
The ingredient Naptha is contained in the GM top engine cleaner liquid that I just cleaned out my engine with. I hope it doesn't screw up things inside as you say or what a dumb thing to put in a cleaner for an auto mfgr!
