Default left door control module: no comm

hello all,

while driving my 2001 vert the other day my DIC lit up and showed multiple alerts: reduced engine power, active handling yadda yadda, service engine soon, etc., etc.

i shut it down and started up and all was fine. today however, out of the blue, i was unable to use my controls on the driver side door; no windows controls, no mirrror, no seat memory. the passenger side works but not from the driver side controls. the left side door control module shows no comm from the diagnostics on the DIC and of course the window valet does not work.

i have taken the door panel off and checked all the connections and they seem ok. given that all functions are disabled i'm sure it's not the relays but rather something common to all. my questions:

1) are both door modules the same and swappable?
2) what is the connection external of the door that might be at fault? (it's always the cables.)
3) does anyone know the part # of the module and a good source to order from?
4) does anyone have a schematic for the door circuit?
5) am i on base or is this something other than the LDCM?

sorry for the lenghthy post and thanks in advance.

john

Your problem is probably in this long thread, I'll look through it and try to find the correct post, ok?

thanks. i've been through this thread and it has helped. although what ultimately solved active handling problems in the past were replacement of real hardware. for this problem the solution may lie here. i'll look out for anything else you might suggest.

thanks,
john

at any rate rate though, a part number and source for a module would be much appreciated.

thanks,
john

If it turns out you need a LH door control module, let me know. I have one available in working condition.

i had the same issue, and all it was was an exposed wire in the harness in the door jam. Open the drivers door, pull back the rubber grommet exposing the wires and harness, look for any wires exposed or under tension.

Even a little jiggle of the wires can fix it. Give that a try. I found one of my wires (clear rubber covering) had the covering slide back an inch. I pulled it back forward, and liquid taped it into place. No problems since.

I have had this same problem before. It seems common on C5 cars.

You must replace it with the same part number on the label of the original module for everything to work. The modules are different depending on what options are on the car.

Thanks! Forgot about that. Added picture if the module can be of any use.

hello NV,

i am interested but the bottom number on yours don't match that on my module. i'm not sure if that matters though, it's 68903070435*

i have a 2001 vert with heated mirrors and the memory package. that may be the discrepancy.

Hi, to tell you the truth I am not sure. I had sold my original door from my '01 Z06 and took this damaged one in on a trade. I don't know if the components were swapped or not. I know my Z06 didn't have heated mirrors or memory. Maybe someone here can help answer this question.

Top # is the Part #, if that is correct, it will work.
----------------------------------------------------------
Edit: My pts Manual only goes through '02, shows that # for '00-'02
