two stage or three stage paint?
My 99 dark blue vette was lightly hit on the drivers side rear so I brought it to the dealers collision shop considering that they handled many corvettes as this dealer was the highest volume corvette dealership in Florida. Anyway after a month of trying to match the color (once the mgr actually wouldnt release the car cause the color was so off) supposedly flying someone in from Dupont they matched the color pretty well (blended all the way from the back rear to the front of the drivers side door. Last week I started taking the door guards off and to my horror found that instead of removing the door trim they taped and painted around the door trim. The mgr assures me that this is proper procedure on all the corvettes they do. Basically I yesd him because I need to get my claim # from them cause the work is guaranteed for life as they were on Allstates recommended list. The manager stated to me that this blue is a three stage paint. Now I hear from another shop its a two stage paint. Which is it? I feel stupid for asking but dont you think they cut corners not taking the trim off? Need to seem as intelligent as possible on this when I get back to this guy!
