I'm going to start my converter swap very soon. I've read threads and have a good understanding on how to do the procedure, but was just wondering if there were any good tips/advice out there that will help me?
I'm not going to drop the torque tube, just angle it.
By the way, this will be done on jack stands in my one car garage
Get the back of the car as high as you can. Unbolt the mufflers and leave them hanging on the axles. Have a couple of vacuum caps handy to cap off the brake lines above the trans. Good to have someone there to work the jack as you guide it down and back up.

Not too bad of a job. Drain the fluid out of the pan first and disconnect the cooling lines.
Dropping an auto trans is a messy job due to all of the fluid. I would also blow out all of the cooling lines to make sure you get out any debris.
And be carefull putting the new torque converter on that it clicks down twice and is seated correctly.
I hang the calipers on the side and remove the lower shock mount and either the upper ball joint or upper "A" arm when I drop the cradle.
However if you seperate the differential from the tranny you will.
Might want to change your trans pan gasket if it leaking when you do swap, other than that, you'll just need some trans - fluid.
My other (maybe) question was going to be wither or not I have to separate the diff and trans to get it out...since you've already answered that, I won't be separating the diff and trans. Thanks again for all the answers.
