#2 Cooling Fan Seems Loud
At start up and for a while after when the coolant temp is <200 or 210 deg only fan #1 is running; it is very quiet and I can barely hear it running.
Once the coolant temp hits ~210 deg the second fan starts running. This is well and good, but it just seems excessively loud. It doesn't sound like anything is wrong mechanically: no grinding or pinging or anything. It's just a loud whine.
I had an LT-1 equipped Roadmaster with 2 fans and it was NEVER this loud. I rarely use the AC so it is not the compressor going bad.
Is this normal? Have you noticed this before? Or is the fan beginning to crap out?
Thanks for any ideas.

Fan1 refers to low speed operation. In this mode the fan motors are wired in series and run at half their full-voltage speed.
Fan2 switches the supplied power to parallel, where both fan motors receive full voltage. This is the high speed mode.
Just as with your interior HVAC fan, it tends to make more noise the faster you have it set to run.
I would check your radiator for blockage, as these cars do tend to vacuum up quite a bit of debris and junk off the streets. Even in fairly warm ambient temps with the radiator reasonably efficient, Fan2 operation is usually never called for.
Since yours is getting to this mode, it suggests a drop in cooling efficiency, and cleanliness of the radiator is the first place to look.
