Always a good idea. You can even check them while driving down the road but with the obvious cautions being the priority is watching out where you are going.
The reason I ask is my car threw some AC codes and my warranty is up in a few months, and the service writer thought it was strange I would check them. The AC seems to be working OK, but they didn't want to check it out and said it is normal for a corvette. ( b0363h and b0367h)
I used to chcek mine once a week, even made an Excell Spreadsheet to track them... I've since gotten lazy on it. I think it'a good idea to keep up on em. Monthly sounds very reasonable!
I went through an excercise once in an effort to find the source of multiple "U" codes at start up and using the spreadsheet and different scenerios it appeared that the easy entry/exit feature, or what ever it's called was tying up the data bus OR was keeping the seat and door modules busy enough that the BCM threw U codes up on em... They practically dissapeared after I shut the easy entry mode off. Plus it saves those rubber washers that causes the rocking seat I think.
Throwing codes other then "U" codes in NOT "normal" for a Vette! Find another dealer to take your business!
