I bought a bose unit, plugged it in, and nothing. My question is if the Theft System was activated would it act like a doa, nothing happening at all when plugged in, the car has bose system. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Bryan
Don't you think it would help if we were told what came out of the car you hooked it up in?
Sorry, I thought the post heading, "Am/fm/cd bose help" and the words "the car has bose system" would be enough info.
Am/fm/cass bose taken out, but to tell you the truth I didn't think if it was a cass or cd made a difference, my bad. Any info or help would be much appreciated. Thank You, Bryan
I believe that there might be a theft code on these radios , usually 4 digit combo. I did not activate the on my radio because it's a pain to retreive the code if you lose or forget it. I know from expereince. I am sure there is some sort of default mode. Someone on here should be able to tell you. Good luck.
If you took out a "correct" radio that was working, and put in another "correct" radio, it should work. If it has "Theft Lock" activated, it would let you know. You say it does "nothing." What was the one you took out doing?

Pulling teeth is fun.....you should have been a dentist byronhunter...
Wow, my teeth hurt, but I have my question answered by the replies now, if the theft lock was activated it would say "Loc" and the prize goes to byronhunter. Thanks to everyone for their replies, they all helped, and I appreciate the time they took to reply.
PS. I took the am/fm/cass head, that worked, out for the am/fm/cd head, that I now know is dead, absolutely nothing happened on display, and no words "Loc". I will return unit

Bryan,
You need to be sure that your car did in fact come with the Bose radio. If your car did not come with a Bose, the new radio will not work as others have mentioned. You can check your options list that should be posted on the inside of your glovebox door.
If your car did not come with Bose, there is one GM head unit that came with the CD that is compatible with the non-Bose cars, but it is very hard to find.
Let us know what you've got for sure... good luck... GUSTO
