The only reason why Z06s stop better are due to their lighter weight and better tires.
Regular C5 brakes are great, so I guess they felt that they're good enough for the Z
I just removed the factory calipers from my 04 vert 30k miles on car tryin to sell them Ill give you all 4 for 125+ shipping... worked great just previous owner did a disgusting job painting them so I bought and prepped another set of calipers to have ready and change all brakes out in one day pads rotors ss lines and all... sorry to hack your thread tho just seeing if I could help ya out!

This stuff works great on the calipers and rotor hats. It's pretty tough stuff too. Holds up very well. I used it on my 2000 C5. It's about $10.00 a can and one can is way more then enough.
