Since my shop manuals are for the '92 C4, I don't have any information on the C5 brakes. What hints can you C5 guys give me on the C5 front brakes -- any tricks will be appreciated. I think I saw a post saying the torque specs for the caliper bracket bolts are 125 lb-ft and the caliper bolts are 23 lb-ft.
On a C5 the caliper bracket bolt torque is 150 ft-lbs. They have friction set glue on them (similar to cement coated nails) that makes them very hard to remove. I had to use a heavy duty impact wrench to get them out. The shop manual says they must be replaced with new bolts because of the glue. The new bolts are $8.00 each and the dealers in my area don't stock them, so I chose to re-use the old ones with Locktite Red high strength thread locker compound. I don't know how they fit on a C4.
On hint:
Put a couple of lug nuts on the rotor to keep it from moving around while you are working on the caliper.
