This isn't the first time I've seen this on my 2002. My 1999 only did this when it was really cold outside.
It's 72* outside right now. I was driving back from the mall and stopped at the gas station to get a Coke. I was only in the store for about 2 minutes. The store is right around the block from where I live. I left the store, and as I pulled into my gate, the Active Handling Warming Up message came up and then I got the warmup finished message almost immediately after. This happened about 1 minute after I left the store while the car was moving. It's 72* outside, I had just been driving it, the coolant was at 200* so should I be concerned that something on my Active Handling system is malfunctioning/going out? This is about the 3rd time my 2002 has done this when it's dry and warm outside. The last time it did this was about 1 1/2 months ago.
Re: 72* outside, Active Handling Warming Up!?!?!? (ICULUKN-C5)
Hmmm. I just took her out for a quick ride and it did it again immediately after I turned around the corner. Come to think of it, the first time it did it today was also when I turned around the corner. In both cases, I was only doing about 2-3 mph and the corner was 90*. I'm a little concerned now that it did it twice in the same day.
Thanks for the input. I guess I'll have to have the blue bowtie techs check this one out for me.
Re: 72* outside, Active Handling Warming Up!?!?!? (Tiger Shark)
If I'm not mistaken, it's really not related to temperature. Each time you start the car, the AH will go through a startup cycle. The car needs to be driven straight during this time.
If you start the car and are turning the steering wheel as you move, it interrupts the cycle. I believe that's when you get the message.
I could check my service manual for the details, if you need them.
Re: 72* outside, Active Handling Warming Up!?!?!? (TooManyIDs)
I'm assuming right now it's because I put new wheels on the car and haven't trained the sensors yet. They use the computer inputs from the wheels for wheel speed etc for the AH controls.
Re: 72* outside, Active Handling Warming Up!?!?!? (TooManyIDs)
Did you move the sensors from the stock wheels to the new ones? How long was it in between the move of the sensors from the stock wheels to the new ones.
I'm just guessing here, so anybody else is welcome to chime in cause I certainly don't have a definitive answer, but Do have the problem.

I've gotten this message before without having swapped out wheels. (Got it on the way home from the dealer on DAY 1!) :D
Re: 72* outside, Active Handling Warming Up!?!?!? (TooManyIDs)
I don't know every sensor on the car, but the AH system get's a lot of input from tire sensors, gyro's and physical input sensors to determine when the car is not doing what you want it to. I've had wierd codes anytime I change wheels which don't have sensors. My new wheels have not had the sensors trained yet, so I'm getting a butt load of code in the AH arena.
Re: 72* outside, Active Handling Warming Up!?!?!? (K&B Motorsports)
The AH system gets part of its input from the wheel speed sensors. They are on the hub, follow the wiring harness. I'm not aware of the tire pressure sensors having anything to do with it.
I'm assuming the AH error messages are due to the change in tire diameter, as we swap wheels. In my case, the diameters drop, so my wheels are rotating faster than normal. The rotation speed front to back is also altered, as the fronts are 1" shorter in diameter, while the rears are .7" shorter.
I don't know if the AH programming is based on absolute rotation or relative rotation front to back, but either way, my wheel swap will upset it.
The code I'm getting is:
C1226 LF Excessive Wheel Speed Variation
The EBCM detects a rapid variation in the wheel speed. The wheel speed changes by 10 mph or more in 0.01 second. The change must occur 3 times with no more than 0.2 seconds between occurrences.

One of my 1999 Coupe's wheel speed sensors went bad and had to be replaced, so maybe that's related to my current messages on my 2002.
Re: 72* outside, Active Handling Warming Up!?!?!? (TooManyIDs)
Don't know.
I'd have to measure to be sure. We put the Toyo's on the back(295/18/40), and Nitto 555's on the front. When Toyo brings out the 275/17 I'll put them on the front.
