I'm trying to figure out the gear ration in my 02' A4 coupe. It's got stock wheels on it with the factory tire sizes, and on the highway in O/D, I'm cruising at 1700 at 70mph. Any help in figuring this out is greatly appreciated.
Should on a metal tag connected to one of the rear housing bolts--also i've seem some that are etched into the rear end too---i would guess that with 1700 @ 70 MPH you have 2.73's which are stock--The 3.15 gears wear an option --called the "sport gears"---3.42's were not availiable stock on an A4-------
Or you could look at the code on the glove box door. GU2 is 2:73, G90 is 3:15, G92 is 3:15 "performance axle"
If you put your car in '3", not 'd', and drive 75 mph, you get your ratio. Example: 2173 rpm (appr) is 2:73, 3150 rpm you have 3:15, etc.
