Default Which gears would you recommend?

Thinking about doing gears this winter. Hear is the info...

99 M6 car, 3.42's.

Performance as of now:
Full bolt ons

Performance in near future to take into heavy consideration:
Centrifugal blower ~ 500 rwhp

What do I do with the car?
Mainly 95% street driven on street tires. Not really concerned with dig traction on the street as it won't even happen now and I rarely ever dig on the street. I go to the 1/4 mile track maybe 3-5 trips per season and will put a 295/35/18 BFG DR on for that. I am not super concerned with getting the car to hook amazingly at the track, because I know these cars struggle staying together when being launched hard. However I do not want something thats stupid as far as finding traction. WHat would you recommend in an m6 500 rwhp street car for a rear gear? Thanks!

If your going w/ that much RWHP, I wouldn't go to a gear any higher then what you now have. Your set up for the track in regards to rear rubber is right on. I'd concentrate more on recomendations for a real good rear street tire for that kind of H.P. Good luck.

having done gears before, and then had to go backwards when i started making real power.. id say no more than 3.73's esp since your car is probably pretty light to begin with. and really the 3.73's almost arent worth it over 3.42's. if you wanted to push it go 3.90s those coul dbe ideal, and your overdrives (5th and 6th) will totally take the down side out of those gears, but hookin up is gonna be a chore.

you really should try and rearrange your attitude.. you COULD find a way to make your car hook. you CAN do it, dont just write it off. personally, in your shoes, throw the money at the fuel system your going to need for that blower, and see what kind of RPM your crossing the traps at, and then regear accordingly.

Stay with 3.42s, no need for gears

Thanks for the good advice, probably best to run first then adjust like you mentioned.

I know I can get the car to hook but seeing so many broken posts on here it doesn't seem like these cars hold up well to hard 6 speed launches. Not sure I even want to go down that road, haha. I'd be content with good power and still be able to muster 1.7's or 1.8's.
