Are some or all of them not working? If some, the lamps have failed due to age and need to be replaced. If you are handy with a soldering iron, they can be done easily.

the air conditioner and heater , defrost all work , but the display panel showing what you have it set on is black. So I just have to push buttons until I get the correct setting (defrost, front air vent etc..) and turn the ***** until I get the right temp. Nothing is lit up.

Ok, here somewhere in the forum is a nice picture of the internals of the hvac display unit. There are some micro resistors on there that probably need resoldering. The other option of course is to buy a new head unit but its your checkbook, not mine.
