Default ATEQ VT10 Universal Trigger Tool for TPMS

I just purchased the ATEQ VT10 for use on my C6 Z06. I found instructions on how to put my C6 into TPMS Re-Learn mode. The question I have concerns my C5 (1997). I can't find anything on how to put the C5 into TPMS Re-Learn mode. Does anyone have any knowledge on using the ATEQ VT10 on a C5? Thanks.

What is the procedure? Don't you still have to put it into learn mode somehow? Thanks for reply.

1. Turn the ignition to ON.
2. Press the RESET button in order to clear any IPC display warning messages.
3. Press and release the OPTIONS button on the DIC to scroll through the display options until the IPC display is blank.
4. Press and hold the DIC RESET button for 3 seconds.
5. Press the OPTIONS button again until the TIRE TRAINING message appears.
6. Press the RESET button until the IPC LEARN L FRONT TIRE message appears in order to begin the programming sequence.
7. Install the magnet over the left front valve stem.
8. The horn will sound, indicating the left front TPM sensor is programmed.

Important

If the horn does not sound after 15 seconds, remove then reinstall the TPM sensor programming tool (magnet). This procedure may have to be attempted up to three times in some instances.

9. When the horn sounds, proceed to program the next TPM sensor in the following order as directed by the IPC messages:

1. LEARN R FRONT TIRE
2. LEARN R REAR TIRE
3. LEARN L REAR TIRE

Does one have to use the expensive magnet (J-41760), I've seen advertized for this purpose or will any strong magnet work? Will my ATEQ VT10 work in place of the magnet since I already have it for my C6? Can anyone answer either or both of these questions?

Any strong magnet will work. Many use speaker magnets, hard drive magnets or the magnets you get at auto parts stores. I don't believe your C6 tool will work, but I could be wrong.

Thanks for all the info. I was able to program my C5 sensors with a magnet.

I still would like to know if it is possible to do it with the ATEQ VT10. I purchased it to do my C6 TPMS. The ATEQ VT10 ad states that it is compatible with all current TPMS. I guess current is the word to note in their ad, as my 1997 C5 is not exactly current. Has anyone been able to do their C5 TPMS with the ATEQ VT10?

While on this subject does anyone know the brand of TPMS in the wheels of the early C5's (1997). Schrader, Siemens, Lite-on, Beru, TRW, Pacific, Lear etc. Thanks ahead of time.

Holding one in hand from '03, says "Schrader Bridgeport." Also says "Made in UK."

I am pleased with my ATEQ VT10 also. Works great on my C6 Z06 (2006), but I can't get it to work on my C5 (1997). But no big deal, I can do the C5 with a magnet.

I have a C5 and am about to put OEM C6 wheels on. Can I use the magnet to reset(relearn) the TPMS?

I'm not sure. My guess is if you are also using the C6 TPMS on the C5 you can't use a magnet but if you are using the C5 TPMS in the C6 wheels on your C5, you can use a magnet. But, I'm not certain. Maybe someone will post here that knows for sure.
