Default Interior trim/ash tray - something doesn't look right

I feel like an idiot having to post this, but...

I just put in my C6Z06 shifter, and something doesn't look right about the ash tray and the little door that goes over it. I don't remember the door and the ash tray lid being visiblyseparate before, and now when I flip the door open the lid smacks against it and makes noise. Any ideas what I did wrong...or does this look like normal?

Thanks guys. I didn't see any other way it could possibly go together, but I never looked at it this close. :P
