Default 6 speed to automatic swap

Hey, I'm not there yet, but, if I'm going to have to put a clutch in my car at some point I'd probably consider switching to an automatic for drag racing. I'm old now and I drag raced for about 15 years from the mid 70's to late 80's. Started racing a stick and eventually switched to turbo 400 then a glide with trans brake in my 9 second nova. My car makes about 414 at the rear wheels now and if something were to happen to the clutch or tranny I would probably think about switching to a build auto and stall converter. My knees aren't what they used to be and clutching all the time on the street and drag racing will probably eventually take its toll. I plan on modding the car a little more a racing at least twice a month next year. I'd like to know who has switched and what it takes including cost to make the change. I think this car will run high 11's as it sits with a good drag radial, however, consistancy is where its at in drag racing and the stick just aren't usually where its at. I know from the past that its true and most who are racing all the time are running glides or some auto in their car. This is not running down the stick guys, just planning the future and I really enjoy driving a stick on the street, just not at the track.

Contact the guys at RPM Transmission - they've done this conversion and can give you all the details.

Thanks, I've seen a couple of zo6's or FRC that have done that also. They just leave harder and are more consistant and tend not to break as many parts at the sticks do. thanks
