anyone who can give me some ideas on an engine squeel. So far I have replaced the idler pulley with the correct #12564401, the tensioner pulley, even tried the Katech tensioner, and 6 different serpantine belts! The noise varys from happening all of the time, to idle or mostly 1500-2000 rpm. Sometimes it will not squeel for a week after I replace the tensioner or belt....then it starts up again! Any help or ideas would be GREATLY appreciated!! :mad
If you have an A4,there is an updated alternator and tensioner (TSB) to address belt noise...This needs to be done 1st :yesnod: Also, make sure that the harmonic balancer (crank pulley) isnt wobbling.
Also, you said that you tried 6 belts, different brands or lenths???If you have one that is to long,it will squeel :yesnod: A dry bearing on the A/C idler pulley is common too.
Check P/S pully aligment I have found a few not installed all the way this will give you a belt squeel. Also you need to make sure it's the main drive belt I have also seen problems with the A/C compressor belt tenssioner and idler. The revised generator and tenssioner will not fix this problem that is for belt rumble on an auto for when the idle drops below 500 rpms, doesn't hurt to have it done if you haven't but it will not help with the squeek problem you are talking about.
