LME does o.k. work. a friend of mine has one of their 6.0 based 408's that uses a quart of oil every 2,500 miles since new. hasnt slowed or gotten faster. BUT, his TFS 235's do have the rocker stud holes that protrude into the intake ports, possible location for the oil to leave.. but after action was taken to ensure this wasnt the case, it still uses oil, it still gets oil in the FAST even there isnt even a pcv on his car... maybe not a builder issue. maybe.
also, this engine was setup as a long block, pushrod length was incorrect, and rocker arm selection was improper also. the jesel's they selected actually interfere at full lift which eventually caused one to break. in my opinion they should have noticed both of these issues.. or actually, the pushrod length for sure should have never been incorrect. kind of dissapointing.
HKE is a solid houston area place for any LS build. erik gets on the engine boards a lot and is truly gifted in his understanding, and plagued by a meticulous mindset. just exactly the kind of guy i'd want building my engines if i couldnt do it myself... but i do so its a non issue.
before anybody gets butt hurt, these are my opinions based on my experience.
LME built my motor for me and has been flawless so far. It has seen nitrous and now boost. I did, however, read some stuff where it seemed they had a bad spell of engine building for a while. I have no personal experience with it.
Erik Koenig of HKE is arguably the best there is, especially in Texas. He usually has a long waiting list though.
I dont see how you could go wrong with either shop.
