Just installed my Blackwing and Vortex Power Duct over the weekend. I had some reluctance due to the questions on the forum with 2002's. After install, I didn't really notice much difference, other than slightly ruff idle. After reving the motor a couple of times that stopped. After driving it about 30-35 miles, it is great!! I have an A4, and it is smoother running, much more responsive, and the exhaust is a little louder. I can't wait to get more miles on it to really see the improvement.
Also, I did not disconnect the battery. I noticed someone else here installed a Blackwing, and didn't disconnect the battery. NO trouble codes.
I would recommend this to anyone looking for an easy bolt on. Also, big kudos to Matt G over at Exit28. He was a great help, and took care of
me--Thanks Matt!!!
Did the same this weekend too! Car sounds tougher and feels great on the highway. Can't get the duct to sit flush on the shroud though. Guess I'll worry about that when I paint it.
If you want your duct to sit flatter, take a heat gun and heat up the Blackwing where you slide the duct into it, so that you can slide it in a little further, and it will lay flat. I put one on and thats what I did, worked for me! :yesnod:
