Default Vortex Rammer -- Filter Maint. -- Need Tips

I have a '03 QuickSilver 50th that came with the Vortex Rammer (clear box) and a Hall-Tech plenum.

Questions:

1. How often do I need to clean the filter?
2. How often do I need to replace the filter?
3. What is the best way to take the thing apart for maintenance?
4. What are the "gotchas" I need to be aware of?

Keep in mind, your audience has the dexterity of a concrete block..

Well, not quite that bad. But simple minds need simple instructions.

Remember, Confuscious say:

1. Every 10k miles http://breathlessperformance.com/products/227-97.asp
I clean mine every other oil/filter change.

2. Unless it's damaged, should last a lifetime.

3. Loosen the band that holds the filter from underneath the hood, reach underneath car to remove.

4. Not not over oil. After re-oiling, let set overnight to help drain any excess oil, then reinstall.

I have the same Vortex Rammer as you. Each spring I disassemble everything forward of the throttle body (not hard to do) and clean each component. For the filter I use the K&N filter care service kit (lightly oiled filter) let dry before reinstalling.. For the mass air flow sensor I use CRC sensor cleaner. Everything else can be cleaned with warm soap and water.
