Default Ground connectors disassembly HELP!!

Having my ECBM repaired and figured it was a good time to clean the ground connectors out. After about a half hour attempting to dissasemble the connector I have given up for fear that I mgiht cause serious damage and then really be screwed. What is the recommend procedure for disassembling these connectors?

Check Bill Curlee's sticky on electrical connections. Might give you what you need. If not e-mail Bill. He's the guru on electrical stuff.

If I remember correctly the release is on the bottom and I had to remove the nut to get access. Been awhile but it solved many of my problems. Once you unbolt it you can see how it comes apart. I also recommend a shot penetrating oil so you don't bust the stud off.

I didn't have any issues getting it off the stud my problem was disassembling the connector itself. It was really difficult to separate the connector. I see how it should come apart and next to jamming a small flat head screwdriver into the sides of the connector and banging it up pretty bad I got know where.

I just didn't want to damage the wiring or connection, how hard should I be pulling to separate the connector?
