Default Rearend Leak....Need Help!

I have a 2000 corvette with 14,000 miles and it has a small leak on left hand (Driver Side) side of the rearend. I jacked it up and seen it was coming from up top. I don't know if the large o-ring on the cover is leaking or if anyone ever heard of fliud coming out of the vent tube? Thanks!

My 2002 coupe started leaking in the same area with only 5,000 miles. There was a recall
to replace a seal which I learned about from this forum. I took it in and got it repaired. The
car was about 3 yrs. old at the time. I think this is a common problem with C-5's.

Default To answer your question YES!

I had my 99 serviced for the leak in the side cover and the axle shaft. When they refilled the rear end they over filled it and yes it will come out the top!!!!!!! I was afraid it was leaking again. I put it on my lift at home and when i pulled the plug gear dope greeted me. I cleaned everything up and let the excess drain out and have not had any more signs of fluid.

Before you jump in and change the seal, check the vent at the top left of the rear end. Thought my seal was leaking, cleaned the vent and haven't had a problem since.

Default Rear end leak

My 03 Z06 was leaking from the vent. I thought it was a seal at first.
I drained the fluid and replaced it with Redline making sure I did not over fill the case. No more leaks.

I made a temporary fix to my leaky rear with "The Right Stuff Gasket Maker".
It worked so well that I made it my permanent repair. Took about 2 minutes.

What exactly did you use the stuff on- not the axle seal for sure? Maybe the case?

Mine is spraying at the top on the under side on the car left hand side so I got my hand up by the vent and wiped everything clean. Haven't drove it yet raining outside but will see what happens...Thanks!
