Default 2001 zo6 knock sensors

I need to replace the knock sensor on a 2001` zo6.It throws code p0327.I reset the DIC and it comes back after roughly 30-50 miles of driving.I know the intake has to come off.Does the valley cover also have to come off to replace the sensor.

It may be the knock sensor... or it may be carbon buildup giving knock.

My '01 Zo6 had the same code.. I changed the sensor which requires intake removal and it's right there on top of the valley. It's a long 19mm socket if I remember correctly.

Still had the code that would go away for a while or sometimes come right back on after resetting.

Took the mainifold off again and replaced the harness that connects the front and rear sensor to the main harness (plug and play)

Still had the codes.

Added an oil catch can, also did the Seafoam treatment. It did solve the issue for about a year. Codes again..

Finally, I've taken the engine apart since the whole thing is getting polished.... and when I took off the heads I could tell why there was that code... because it was CRUDDED with carbon!

Think carbon buildup on the piston tops and also combustion chambers especially the fronts where the code was sensing.

I'm going to clean all the carbon off the pistons and chambers/valves and I'm betting anything that I wont have knock codes anymore.

Here's a link to the picture. It's the last shot in the 1st post. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...come-pics.html

No. However, check to see if you have oil around one or both of the sensors. If so, the seals need to be replaced (which isn't hard), then you would have to take the valley cover off. Taking the valley cover off isn't a tough job as it is only like 8 or so bolts.

FYI: The knock sensors are hard to remove without breaking them so be careful if you are removing one that is in working condition.
