telescopic steering

telescopic steering adjustment doesn 't always works when i want it to. what could be the problem.

If you have re-memorized the steering wheel position stops which is simple to do and its still messing up, then look at the blue 8-pin connector under the driver's seat as all the power and position feedback goes through that connector. Make sure its dry and clean.

I have been living with this problem for the last 7 years. Every time I took the car to the dealer under warranty it would work perfectly. Never got it fixed and it only does it intermittently.

In your case, look at that connector.

I would also add to work the switch a few times, as that too could just be dirty and not always flowing enough voltage.

The memory on the telescoping steering wheel is set by first pushing the switch down several times till the column bottoms out all the way, then push and hold for like 3 seconds. Do the same thing coming all the way back out....hold again for like 3 seconds. Someone else please correct me if I got that wrong.

Turn ignition to ON, leaving the engine off.
To set the telescoping in soft stop, press the telescoping COLUMN IN switch at least eight times or until the column moves.
