I was underneath the car just looking and I came across this. On the passenger side of the lower radiator I see something that looks odd. Looked closer and it looks like something is supposed to be connected here. Can anybody tell me what the heck this is. I can see the fins inside the radiator and a rubber grommet.

Tranny cooler connection for an A4? Is yours an A4 or M5?

Oh that might explain why my wife's A4 has a connection and my M6 doesn't. Should it be capped or anything? It looks rusty in there.

Transmission cooler, and No, nothing flows through it so it won't hurt anything. Maybe in 80 years it will rust through and may need a cap on it.

I am looking into putting a trans cooler on my 2003 A4 - is this port there for a trans cooler connection? If so, what kind of cooler to put on and where does it mount? Any direction is appreciated - thanks.

I stopped using the trans cooler in my radiator. I use an exteral B&M cooler with an electric fan. The radiator cooler will force your tranny temp to be atleast as hot as the radiator, and I wanted mine cooler.
