The Vette is at the dealer because of a noise in the rear diff. I just spoke with the tech and he said they tore it down and are replacing all the internals. Is there any way for me to put a 3:73 in there while its open? If so what will it affect?? IE sensros etc etc.... I know its an 8.8 carrier so I was thinking a set of Mustang 3:73s would fit nicely in there. Any help is appreciated. TIA
Re: Need quick awnser on gear install (Chris 2K1C5)
I think there is a 3.90 and 4.10 gear set. I don't think there is a 3.73 gear set. What about just replacing the whole diff with a 3.73 set since it seems your diff is in shambles as is?

I am surprised they are doing this instead of just replacing the entire diff. The parts and labor just to rebuild the carrier must be getting close to the cost of a new one.

For dealer install and warranty, go with the 3.73. Corvette of Houston is offering 3.90 and 4.10 ratios, but I don't think these ratios would be covered under warranty.
I'm going with 4.10's , hopefully next week. Just waiting on parts. i think on a stick car this will be a great setup. The gears come with a year warranty and if the dealer puts them in correctly (No whining or howling) They should go forever. Besides, I wouldn't let a minor issue like warranty stop me from going fast. But that's me. I had my motor out twice before the warranty was up. I just couldn't wait that long. I have this sickness , you see. :smash:
