sounds like it. Dexcool is a brand name by the way, not a product. Like NOS is a brandname of nitrous, or band-aid is a brand name of bandages. It is highly highly unlikely that the Prestone caused the issue. As long as was the Prestone that has the GM compatible number on the back.
I know this thread is old, but I found something other than replacing my radiator cap that will help others having the "burping" issues. I found most of my overheating problems were caused by air getting stuck in the top of the motor. I tried the whole gambit of exorcisms to get it out, including jacking one side of the car up to coerce the air out.
Finally, I used a bleeder pump I had bought from Harbor Freight to do a one-man brake bleed and hooked it up to the coolant tube under the throttle body and just kept sucking the air out until I got a good stream of coolant. Stuck the hose back on and bingo! All without burning my hands on hot coolant, no cycling through the multi-step shop manual process, no driving around the block only to watch the gauge peg up to the danger zone, etc.
