Default Need help with FOB

I have a 99 c5, today I tried to program the 2nd fob with no luck. I am guessing the second one is bad but anyways not my issue right now. After taking apart both fobs to test of the battery of each and then coming to the conclusion that the one that doesn't work is indeed broken, the one that does work now and does program is giving me a headache now. After programming and turning off the car, the car will lock and the horn will go off with it without me touching the remote. I took it apart again about 5 times with the same thing happening i tried cleaning it out and still I have this issue. Has anyone had this happen before? I now have to have my fobs disconnected from the battery so I am not annoying the neighbors with it locking and setting off the horn by itself.

Have had the same prob on a couple of FOBs with my 97 and my 98 as well. Sometimes they just stay in passive. You can pick up another one on fleabay for pretty cheap, but I'd reccomend new just to be sure you don't get another one w the same gremlin.

The reason your 2nd remote wouldn't program is because you have to program both remotes at the same time. In other words, you can't program one today and one tomorrow. You have to program them together, one right after the other.

I'm sorry that was not the problem, I said it was broke because I couldn't program that one with the good one's battery. Therefore I could switch the battery back and program the good one again. And can't program the 2nd one at all. So I saw the ebay price was like 90 dollars used. Ouch but no I don't use the passive on it, just switched it on let it work then switch it off, and it seemed to be the remedy.
