97 with DCC. Passenger side blows hot air constantly no matter what settings are on (even A/C) if main setting is in the "on" position. Shuts off when main on/off button is pushed to "off ". I have reviewed over 12 pages of past postings and read in detail about the vacuum lines deteriorating but suspect the cause could be something else. Any ideas? Thanks.
Sounds like you've got an actuator motor bad on the passenger side(that's not ALL it could be,but it's a common problem on C5's)
JUST in case it's not bad,you might try reindexing the actuators.
Turn the key to "on" position, but don't start the car
Make sure the A/C is off.
Hit reset to clear any warnings on DIC (Door ajar, etc.)
Hold the "Options" button down while pressing the "Fuel" button four times within 10 seconds.
This will bring up the "Diagnostics" text on the DIC
Hit "options" again, and the DIC will display "Manual Diagnostics"
Keep pressing "reset" till you come to "99HVAC"
Press and hold the reset button(even if there's no codes) till it beeps .
You'll hear the actuator motors under the dash running for 20 seconds or so(they're not very loud,so listen closely)
Give it another 10 seconds or so after they stop, then turn the key off.
Now start the car and try the A/C -if reindexing is going to help, the A/C should work right,or at least alot better
(I'm not sure is the DCC units ever work totally "right")
I did this proceedure and it work . my heater works now! I was about to start buying parts. Thats why I buy corvette. we have a family that helps each other.
tryed it twice it didn't work but i thought lets try something diffrent so I followed all the steps till the motors started indexing half way through I turned the key to the off position and stared the car turned on the A/C and WHA LA both sides blew cold air I didn't have to dig any deeper. THanks for the initial info that got me were i need to be. stay cool fellow C5 corvette bro's
