Re: Magnetic Drain Plugs...where to get them??? (RajunCajun2001)
You can get them though the dealer. If your car gets its oil changed at the dealer they will ususally give you one for free. If not I think they are like 10 bucks
Re: Magnetic Drain Plugs...where to get them??? (RajunCajun2001)
LAPD has the complete set of magnetic plugs for your car. You can even get Redline oil for the trans, diff, engine on a special deal if you like. Go to the Forum mall and see all the Deals LAPD has. :)
Re: Magnetic Drain Plugs...where to get them??? (RajunCajun2001)
Got mine from CAU in the forum mall. Went with the Redline package. I shopped the price and I could only better it by making several trips, the "to my door" was worth it.
Re: Magnetic Drain Plugs...where to get them??? (KingTut)
The stock ones are not magnetic. The magnetic ones have a small magnet at the tip to, in theory, "trap" little pieces of metal that are floating around in whatever fluid they are plugging, so the little pieces of metal do not do any damage to the internals. They are not disposable, but the ones from the dealer are made of a very soft metal, and are easily stripped. For $2-3, you could consider it a disposable item, I guess. :jester

Convenience maybe? I have not priced them many places, but at Ecklers they are about $8 dollars each. I just ordered the kit in the mall that included the gear oil and all for $80. Received it today and will be doing the refresh this weekend.
Re: Magnetic Drain Plugs...where to get them??? (RajunCajun2001)
I believe we are one of the few that offer all three. The LS1 is a GM part, but our diff and trans are manufactured for us. We have them in kits on the mall http://store.yahoo.com/corvetteforum/coracun.html and on our site.
