My question is: I have an 02 and I found a guy with an 00 c5. I am getting rid of my vette and am trading my polished rims and tires for his dull rims and tires. Will the tps recalc to our cars or is there something we need to do to recalibrate them for the new computer?
Thanks

Swap TPMs and you're both good to go. "Computer" has nothing to do with it.
so if we trade wheels and tires, it shouldnt affect the tire pressure sensors at all? My sensors will work on his car once wheels are traded, and his will work on mine?
Just trying to make a quick trade of wheels and tires, without anything else
Once you change the sensors, you need to reprogram them to your car.
This is the procedure I have been using. One exception, I have been using a magnet instead of the programming tool mentioned:
1. Turn the ignition to ON.
2. Press the RESET button in order to clear any IPC display warning messages.
3. Press and release the OPTIONS button on the DIC to scroll through the display options until the IPC display is blank.
4. Press and hold the DIC RESET button for 3 seconds.
Notice: Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Cautions and Notices.
5. Press the OPTIONS button again until the TIRE TRAINING message appears.
6. Press the RESET button until the IPC LEARN L FRONT TIRE message appears in order to begin
the programming sequence.
7. Install the J 41760 Tire Pressure Programming Tool over the left front valve stem.
8. The horn will sound, indicating the left front TPM sensor is programmed.
9. When the horn sounds, proceed to program the next TPM sensor in the following order as directed
by the IPC messages:
- LEARN R FRONT TIRE
- LEARN R REAR TIRE
- LEARN L REAR TIRE
Programming Cancellation
1. The programming mode will be cancelled if any of the following conditions are met: - The program mode is exited through the DIC.
- The ignition is turned to OFF.
- All four sensors have been programmed.
- The TPM system has been in the program mode for longer than 2 minutes and no sensors
have been learned.
2. If the program mode is cancelled with less than four codes stored, the receiver will only accept the codes programmed up to that point.
GM makes two different tire pressure sensors for the C5. 97-00 sensors and 01 to 04 sensors and they are not interchangeable.
If you want to put his wheels on your car, you must remove the sensors from your wheels and install them in his wheels, and they must be installed in the same location as they were in your wheels (right front sensor in new right front wheel, etc.) if not you will have to retrain them using the method that SDLS1Rider lists in his post.

Zackly. Keep them at the same corner and no re-programming required.
So "retraining" them is doable even thought the sensors for the "97-00" and the "01-04" are different correct?
Seems like "retraining" them would be an easier approach than to remove all 8 and then reinstall them. In this case I would have to remove 8 tires and 8 stems, where as if "retraining" them is doable, it is just a matter of swapping wheels and tires and then doing the "retraining" system that SDLS1RIDER explained earlier.

You have multiple threads on this but the answer will still be the same, it's not going to work.
No, just posted in 2 catagories...wasnt sure where to post and am getting 2 different opinions. Sorry for the inconvenience guys. Just havent changed them out and am trying to do a lil Q&A and research.
Am I understanding correctly now "8vette7", they are not interchangable...BUT if all sensors are removed fr, fl, rr, rl, from my 02 and reinstalled in the same locations but on different rims on my 02 so my sensors are still with my car and his the same locations on his car, then there will be no need to retrain? Sorry to drag this out, just dont want to leave the guy with his tire sensors reporting errors.

There are two generations of TPMS that are NOT interchangeable. '97-'0 and '01-'04
If the OP is accurate and the two Vettes are an 02 and an 00 then the only way to do this is to dismount all the tires from the wheels, swap the tpms exact corner for corner from one set of wheels to the other then re mount the tires and put the tires/wheels back on the cars in exactly their original position..
