I have the service Active Handling message coming on every time I use the Vette (2004 Z06 25K miles)
I am gona do a big service on the car and wanted to know what to change to get rid of this error message.
I pulled the codes:
10PCM P0171 H
28TCS C1287 H
C1288 H
40BCM B0502 HC
B0507 HC
60IPC U1160 H
AOLDCM B2262 H
B2264 H
I cleared them all, but couldn't clear the AOLDCM codes.
I have the problem for few months now and really want to fixe it.
I did some research and found that Steering sensor could be wrong but don't want to chnage it (it looks to be a big job) if it come from the traction control unit.
First I would check the voltage at the battery and the battery connections. The steering sensor may need to be replaced but you also have a door control module voltage level issue. If the battery supply voltage is low then it could affect both the steering sensor and the door control module. Also check the ground locations under the battery (G104) and at the base of the drivers side A pillar.
The steering sensor is located at the base of the steering column below the instrument panel.
This past summer I had the same thing happening to me just a few times. I would clear codes and would not get the message for a week or so. Later in the fall when the tempeture droppped, I noticed the car cranking slowly in the morning. Not long after the battery crapped out (original) and I replaced it, nothing special a $69 unit with higher CCA than stock. No more TCS service messages.
I'm sure there are several reasons to get the TCS messages but I would recommend a serious battery test. I think my problems where just that simple.
