Has anybody defeated the Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) with hardware? Those things annoy me and I wanted to find a way to either jumper them out or give it some kind of bogus reading with a resistor.
No can do, programming them out is the only option, and that's not even an option for the early models I seem to recall. Why do they annoy you? The only time I know I have them is when I HAVE LOW PRESSURE IN A TIRE!
I want to be able to swap out a set of track tires and not have to buy TPM sensors for a new different set of rims. From what I can tell they sense through the keyless entry system so it can be programmed out (not on all cars) or a dummy detector will have to be made.

When my sensor die in my 99, I'm just going to convert the system to the 01-04 type. The whole conversion is ~ $280, which includes the receiver, two fobs, and four sensors.

I don't think this removes the TPS, just allows you to use the cheaper newer ones I think.
No, that addresses changing the RF receiver not the BCM. Two completely different pieces of hardware. If you can change to the '01 or later BCM then you would be able to program out the TPMS using a Tech2. I'm just not sure the earlier PCM will communicate with a later model BCM.

Unless your BCM has been changed you can't program out the TPMS on '97 to '00 cars. The change was made in '01 to accommodate the Z06 cars which did not come with run flats or sensors. Unless Canadian cars are different?
I had read on the forum at the time that it couldn't be done on pre
2001's but it worked on mine...
Do you still have sensors on your wheels? When you page through the gauges on your DIC what does it say when you get to the tire pressure readings? What program did your tuner use to eliminate the TPMS?
Will a pre '01 PCM recognize a '01 BCM? Any links to how to do this?
Mark, TBH I'm not sure -- I'm running a 411 PCM (01-03 replacement). I *think* I read someone did this on a 99, but that's the same "family" PCM, so...

I just checked the auction site and they have used BCM's '01-'04 for $175.00. Not a bad price if you wanted to get rid of the TPMS if it could be used with the old PCM. If you were going to change to the later model PCM to take advantage of the improved VE tables including the BCM change would also make sense.

No sensors on my CCW's...I did not change the original BCM...The tune was by a local tuner...I'll have to check what the DIC says...

I don’t run sensors in my wintertime wheels and tires and the past 3 seasons and the warning has only popped up 3 or 4 times and that was in the span of one week in one season. The DIC just shows a blank where the pressure would normally be for each wheel.

Must be the luck of the draw.
supposedly the sensors are only checked once an hour to save battery life on the sensor so it may just be your timing.

No, that's not it. On a 2000 the sensors will wake up and send data after a speed of 10 - 15 mph and go to sleep after 1 minute of being stationary. If they only transmitted once an hour they really would not be worth much.
