I All it takes to take the cradle loose is taking the the upper A arms loose. If you had any shims and put them back in their respective places, then there is no need for an alignment.

Simply removing the rack won't change the toe setting of the wheels, assuming the tie-rod adjusters weren't messed with. The worst you could expect is the steering wheel to be off centre a little, but I doubt you'd even see that.
