A Note on VHT Caliper Paint..

However after painting with the VHT I will say the finish is unbelievable.
Very easy to use,cheap.. one can of color does the car although I also used a coat of clear for extra gloss and protection from their engine enamel section.. ($6.99 @ Autozone) with at least 3 medium coats per caliper, and a PROFESSIONAL SPRAY TIP I can't tell you the difference this makes when spraying. A huge improvement over the Rustolium for a slight diffrence in price. This may sound odd, but you actually have to almost try to get runs it makes that much of a difference.

I used Rustolium wax and grease remover after a quick sanding with 400 grit then cleaned with VHT caliper cleaner (whole process of prep maybe 15 minutes each caliper and the stuff is hard as nails so hard in fact my Dremel tool at 7,000 rpm with my sanding wheel had trouble removing paint on the CORVETTE lettering..
Truly looks powdercoated..

The longest most tedious part of the job for me was the taping,
and papering. The cleaning part is something I feel most believe it or not over do. I can't speak for other people who have done this, but I keep my car clean to the point that caked on break dust isn't an issue at least for me..Personally I have read almost every thread on painting calipers both on and off the car and the extremes some go to is incredible. I'm not talking about Corvette Forum either..I'm talking all the other forums online..(Google search painting calipers it should keep you busy for around 2 hours or so)I've read that some use a Dremel and a wire brush, then Dawn dish soap then brake cleaner, and finally degreaser..come on
really the surface is metal and if you really want them clean fast and without all the hassle go to your local car wash and pressure clean them(unless you have one and save the trouble and mess) and after drying use brake cleaner when you get home.. Done..I disagree with removing the breaks for painting not because I think your wrong about making it easier, but I'm lazy

I have to tell you the truth is you never see the back of the breaks and its much easier for me to leave them alone rather then unmounting, remounting, and bleeding..I would think most would feel this way, however if you need new breaks by all means do it that way..
VHT makes the best spray paint I've used period, and like I said the price is right on..VHT is made by Shermin Williams enough said..Try it yourself after the first caliper is done you will stop and stare for about 20 minutes at what a difference it makes. (painting tip I found works great if by some mean act of god when your removing your tape if you decide to leave them on the car you find like I did you have by accident hit a wet area DON"T PANIC take a touchup paint brush and spray a little paint on a piece of newspaper and dab the brush in and let it pick up as much paint as it can hold then slowly make contact in the flawed area and the paint will self level to a FLAWLESS FINISH I wish touchup paint worked that well) I'll post more pics tonight of the back an total side profiles..All I can say is SHARP..
