I remember seeing some snapshots of someone who'd had their C5 lifted by a shop using the incorrect lift points and had damaged the car. I want to avoid that. :)
Using a roller jack, I need to lift each corner to do some mods... can someone post a pic with an arrow pointing to the exact location I should locate the lift arm of the jack so the underbody doesn't get damaged - then where to put the (good quality) jack stands? I'm going to do one corner at a time for each wheel mod, then lift front & rear (in turn) driver's side so I can get under her to install the CAGS defeat. Sure isn't much room under there. :) Thanks in advance.

I don't have a photo to help you out, but if you jack the car from the front or rear, just place the jack under the crossmember. In the front, be sure to use the forward crossmember so as not to damage the oil pan. Place the jack stands under the control arms. If you want to jack the car from the side, you'll need pucks or blocks to go between the jack and the frame, since the rocker panels wrap under the frame.
I'd stick with jacking at the middle of the crossmember and then place jack stands at each side before it splits into a Y. Avoid lifting at each wheel. Here is a link to see a jack stand in the correct place.
Not sure I agree with the picture in your link. My shop manual says you should always span both ribs, not use a single rib. They also advise to use a block of wood or a pad between jack and ribs.
You can put a jackstand at that end, but it should span "all three ribs" or at least two using a wood block.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the advice. I'm going to make a dual hockey puck arrangement to lift on the corners. That way I'll be sure not to 1) damage the body or 2) damage the crossmember arm. I found some more pics at http://97vette.com/howto/carlift/index.html
Road trip this week for work... when I get back I'll do this. Wish me luck. :)
Danke
I agree with both of you. :yesnod: Maybe I should have included that the picture shows the correct point to place jack stand, but isn't necessarily correct because it only spans one rib. I always use a wooden block. Sorry I didn't post that in the first reply. Thanks to all who chimed in to help.
This is a great thread. I'm planning on painting my calipers in the spring, and this thread shows, in detail, about all there is to know about lifting a C5 in a homeowner's garage.
