Throw out bearing rattle on takeoff?
I just bought an 03 with 28000 miles. I've noticed that the throw out bearing rattles a little when I take off. I read this is normal for the C5, but why does it do it?
I've owned a dozen cars with clutches, but this is a first. Normally I would pull the tranny and put a new one in, but that doesn't look like fun in a C5.
Just tell me its OK and I will trust you guys.

Good question. Originally I thought is was the engine lugging because the sound is coming from that part of the car. But when I told someone else about it (C5 owner), he said it was a known problem with the bearing. His is an automatic, but knows a lot of C5 owners.

Are you sure this is not the "marbles in a can" sound that some C5s make? They mention it in the video that came with the C5. It is due to tolerances in the drivetrain (splines rattling).

It's in the torque tube and is most noticeable feathering it out of first gear as you let out the clutch. More noticeable if you let it lug. Both of my C5 6 speeds have done this.
