Default So what are the top torque cams?

There are lots of cams that produce big peak hp numbers however I rarely see cams that are really big torque monsters. Are there cams that are made with only torque in mind? I would like to hear of some of the cams you guys know that make big torque.

Define a "torque monster". What cams have you seen produce a big horsepower increase, with no sizable increase in torque?

I'm assuming he means big torque numbers way down low in the rpm range 1000-2500rpm... Most of the bigger cams make good torque gains, however its in the higher rpm ranges above 3000 rpms

Yes I should have explained that better, thanks David426. I know that once the cam is in the upper range the numbers are made but under 2-3 rpm range there is not much to be gained, at least this is what I am seeing. I was posting to see if there are cams that are great down low in the rpm range.

Short duration, lots of lift and tight lsa.

Something like a 224-224 110 +2

Use Comp XE lobe 3192 for .643 lift on the intake

Use Comp XFI lobe 3015 for .609 lift on the exhaust

Run PAC 1521 springs and Manton 11/32 pushrods

Just my $.02

why 224/224 ? can it be 224/232 and everything be same, assuming free flow exhaust Headers and such. Who make these lobe design ? and how aggressive these lobes? more aggressive than XER?

waddisme: MS3 is known to make low torque numbers, yours is 402 thats why you see 450 torque otherwise on 350 even with good heads and exhaust, u would be lucky if u make 425 torque with MS3. On a stock engine with CAM only mod, u will be lucky to see 400 RWT.

He wants everything low. Pushing the exhaust out to 230 will help the mid-top but at the expense of the bottom. These are Comp catalog lobes. The intake will take a good spring which is why I recommended the PAC 1521's. Properly setup, everything should last a long time.

Here is my tired 403 w/ L92 heads and a much smaller cam than an MS3. As you can see - I like grunt!

427 in the works.

Don't know if it has been asked "BUT" how much TORQUE are you looking to find?

Ex: In comparison to HP or just pure torque? Do you want to see 50% more TQ than HP or 25% - 300 HP and 425 TQ would this be a comparison to what you are lookinf for?

Because when I was NA I ended up with one combo that was 400 RWHP and 400 RWTQ That was fun

Thanks,Matt

350 rwtq at 2000rpm.. That is a torque monster down low. I think this is what 94brick is looking for
