I was searching the for sale section and saw sopmeone selling their 2001 Z06 vert. They said it was smade with all GM parts and all. I think it has between 3600 miles on it. They are asking for 41000 about. What's the difference between the 01 and 02 Z06? I was thinking about selling my 98 vert and seeing if he still had the Z06 vert. Also is there anyway to check to see if it truely is a Z06 (ie carfax or vin number)? Thanks everyone for your help.
Just changing the miles on the car from 5000-6000 to 3600 miles. Sorry for the mistake. Car sounds awsome, but I do not think I can afford after going through my expenses :cry . Finish grad school or get the corvette? decisions decisions decisions :D
The only "True Z06 convertibles" are converted by Caravaggio. They start off as FRC Z06's and are transformed to convertibles. Price is $12,000 and these cars are rare. If you are looking for a C5 that was made into a wanna be Z06 this may be a good car for you.
there was a Z06 converted into a vert done locally and owned/sold by a forum member .....saw it at the NCRS show in Kissimmee and it had the correct Z06 vin :D
Thanks everyone. I will probably just keep my vert. It's pretty good other than a constant rattling no one seems to be able to fix at the dealer (been there a few times for this problem) :mad . It's coming from behind the passenger airbag unit. A new rattling started to come from behnd the a/c unit (right after the last time I brought the car to get checked). I guess it is something I am going to have to just live with. Other than that the car runs great, well when I get to drive it. I am in NY at grad school now and haven't really had time to take her out in the last two weeks
This is the owners e-mail address. He just e-mailed me and told me that he has reduced the price. He is having something else built. It's a real Z06 with the correct VIN. A real class job. Good luck

Re: Z06 convertible (Quake)
To answer you original questin the difference between the 01 & 02 Zo6 is 2o horsepower more (total of 405 vs 385 for 01 Z06) for the 02 made with better breathability thru cam, better flowing cats, screenless MAF and couple of other GM Tricks. Other than that no much difference. Keep you 98 and make it and 11 sec machine thru heads, cams and walk away from not only Z06s but most stock Vipers to.
I would have to disagree, for what he paid for the car and what he is selling it for,If I had the $$ I would buy it. The shop that did the conversion did it for $12000  that puts the cars price (new) at 60 K. He is selling it for 41k mint condition and only 6k miles. That's a steal if you ask me :yesnod:
I didnt know that owners were converting Z06's into convertibles... I learn something new everyday here... :) the question is... would you buy a car that First timer Joe Blow Converted a Z06 in his garage?
Sorry that I'm late to this topic. I really do have to get out more... :D
Yep, the Z06 convertible in question is mine and yes, it is a *real* Z06 that has been turned into a convertible and yes, Mother, it does have the "S" in the right place in the VIN. :)
Its currently the Car of the Week here on the forum so you can view pics there but a bunch more photos may be found at http://www.hashmarks.com/01z06v/. The car now has black Z06 seats in lieu of Mod Red, price has been reduced to $41,900, and mileage is about 3600 (not 6000 as someone else reported).
This car is perfect and the only reason I have it up for sale is because I have a 2002 EB Z06 waiting in the wings for its convertible conversion. Can't start that project until this one is sold, however.
Questions? Email me directly at hutch@hashmarks.com.
I stand corrected :bb only 3600miles I would buy this car in a nanosecond if I had the money that is :( Someone will get lucky with this car. Sorry about that Hutch
That is an excellent price!!! If you are looking for a C5 Vert, even a non-z06, I would grab this. But a Z06 Vert? Anyone would be foolish to pass this up(as long as it has no body damage - not suggesting that it does.)
The only thing I would make sure is. although Carravagio does impeccable work, call John and see if a Vert-Conversion warranty is stilll in place. That would be my only concern.
This is not a Caravaggio conversion, but it was done professionally, as anyone who has seen this car can attest.
Anyone seriously interested should contact me via email for specifics. But do so quickly, as I have to make a decision on which Z06 to keep in the next few days. Geez, we should have such problems, eh? :D
