Default Climate Control Actuator Fix Question

This question is those of you that have done the actuator fix posted on this board, where you re-index the actuators.

I have no heat in the car, at all. I'm getting the B0361, B0363, and B0446 codes. I've tried disconnecting the battery trick, but no luck. I've tried the shutdown in the middle of resetting the HVAC codes, no luck. So, my only thing left is to pull the drivers side actuator and re-index it. This what I have planned for my day off on Friday.

Some questions...
1. How long a project is this, to open everything up, re-index, test, and put it all back together again?

2. Since I got a B0446 code, should I be concerned about re-indexing the passenger side also?

3. Is it best to go from under the dash by the knee or from above, taking the whole dash out?

Thanks!

I've seen that, but it doesn't answer my questions.

Default A/C Actuators

Steven, I pulled the dash pad ( cover ) to do my left side actuator. You don't have to pull the dash out but it involves taking the console and the parts under the steering column apart to get the cover off. It could be done in a day, and if I had the code on the right as well I would do it while I was at it. Just be very careful to only move the gear a couple of teeth and in the correct direction. Have you seen the pictures of the actuator internals? Also helps if you have a service manual.

Thanks for the info, vettezeke.
I'll have to research how to gain access to the right side, since I'm throwing one code on that one.
I'm not looking forward to doing this at all, but it sucks driving without heat.

I would have a spare actuator on hand. If the output gear is split, indexing may not do you any good.

I'd love to, but at the price these things cost, I can't. So, if the actuator is bad, I'll buy it then. No biggie if the car is laid up for a week or two. I'd rather spend the money when I have to. I can't afford to buy one, then throw it in my "extras" pile if the one in the dash is still good.
